Out-of-Season Spawning Questionnaire Privacy Policy

Privacy collection notice

The Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) is collecting the information in this survey to help us understand researcher needs and shape a possible future out-of-season coral spawning service at the National Sea Simulator (SeaSim). AIMS is a Commonwealth entity and handles personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

What we collect: If you choose to give them, your name, organisation and email address. The survey also asks about your research interests and needs, which may include details of work that is unpublished or still in progress.

How we use it: Your responses will be used to scope and design the program — for example, which species to offer, how often to run spawning events, larval quantities, and what technical support to provide. We will generally report results internally in summary or de-identified form.

Your research information: We understand some answers may describe research you have not yet published. AIMS will treat that information as confidential. We will not publish it, and we will not share it outside AIMS (other than for designing this program) without your consent.

Giving your details is optional: You can complete the survey without giving your name or contact details. You only need to provide them if you would like us to be able to follow up with you (see the last question).

Storage, security and access: Responses are stored securely and accessed only by AIMS staff working on this project. As with any information sent over the internet, we cannot guarantee security in transit, so please do not include anything you would prefer not to send electronically.

Access, correction and complaints: You can ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you, or make a privacy complaint, by contacting privacy@aims.gov.au. Full details of how AIMS handles personal information are in the AIMS Privacy Policy at https://www.aims.gov.au/privacy-policy.

Questions: If you have any questions about this survey or how your information will be handled, contact Lauren Beattie at l.beattie@aims.gov.au.
