Public tours of our Townsville facility

AIMS is monitoring the developments of the COVID-19 virus outbreak closely, and is committed to ensuring the health and safety of the public and our staff. As a result, public tours of our Cape Cleveland facility are cancelled until further notice. We apologise for any inconvenience.

Our popular tours  include a visit to the National Sea Simulator

Members of the public are invited to book a spot on a tour of our Cape Ferguson facility. Tours are available on Fridays between late March and the end of October. Please note numbers are limited and bookings are essential.

Tours begin at 9:30am and end at approximately 11:45am. They include presentations on AIMS’ current research and a guided walk around the facilities, including a tour of the ‘world’s smartest aquarium’, the National Sea Simulator.

Numbers are limited. Bookings are essential and close at 4 pm on the Wednesday before the tour.

Sturdy, closed footwear and a hat to protect against the sun are required. We also advise you to bring drinking water.

During the tour, guests will be using stairs and walking across uneven ground. Please notify staff at Reception regarding any mobility issues when booking.

A fish and chips lunch is available for our tour guests to purchase at our cafe to enjoy after the tour. Inform reception if you intend on staying for lunch at your time of booking.
