Waypoint Autumn 2015

Welcome from AIMS's CEO, John Gunn

Welcome from AIMS's CEO, John Gunn

Welcome to our first newsletter for 2015.

I am delighted to welcome the new AIMS’ Chairman, The Hon Penelope Wensley AC and Council members, Ms Diana Hoff, Dr Stephen Morton and Mr Roy Peterson. The AIMS Council plays an important role in setting strategic directions, overseeing financial sustainability and ensuring that AIMS Staff and collaborators work in a safe and supportive environment.

We look forward to working with this dynamic group of leaders throughout the year and into the future. They have started their new roles at an exciting time for AIMS as a new strategic plan begins to drive our science, and a number of ground breaking scientific projects are beginning to produce important findings.

In this newsletter we reveal a series of studies focused on understanding northern Australia's coral reefs and in particular their resilience to the impacts of development and global change: from Assisted Evolution to our ongoing collaborative research with industry at a remote reef in North Western Australia as well as exciting studies in Papua New Guinea.

I hope you enjoy reading this edition of Waypoint and I look forward to working with you all in 2015.

Yours sincerely,

John Gunn
