Over 40 years, AIMS has built both the science excellence and infrastructure to attract a wide range of national and international collaborators.
The National Sea Simulator, which opened in 2013, was designed to encourage scientific collaboration. AIMS researchers are currently establishing partnerships with Australian and international colleagues who want to explore the capabilities of this state-of-the-art national facility.
Our large ocean vessels also help enhance Australia’s marine research capability by supporting collaborations between research institutes and industry, including our work at Scott Reef.
In 2013–2014 AIMS partnerships involved:
- 168 projects
- 21 countries
- 145 Australian scientists
- 48 Australian organisations
- 84 overseas colleagues
- 67 overseas organisations.
Our Australian partnerships also include leadership roles in national marine policy development, major national and international collaborative frameworks, research and development collaborations, and memorandums of understanding.
