The Australian Institute of Marine Science is an internationally renowned world leader in the sustainable development, conservation and management of tropical marine environments.
AIMS has more than 200 staff operating from research facilities in Townsville, Queensland, Perth, Western Australia and Darwin, Northern Territory.
AIMS operates under the ethos of generating and transferring knowledge to support the sustainable use and protection of the marine environment through innovate, work class scientific and technological research.

Membership to the AIMS Social Club is optional and is open to all staff, visitors and contractors. The Social Club organises a variety of events throughout the year and details are available from AIMScape.
Employer contributions for superannuation are made at 15.4%. AIMS Staff have the choice to join one of the following superannuation funds:
- Public Sector Superannuation Accumulation Plan (PSSap)
- UniSuper Accumulation Plan
- Australian Super
- Australian Ethical
Staff are encouraged to review the Product Disclosure Statement prior to electing to become a member of a superannuation fund.
All staff are required to complete the online general safety induction. In addition, staff who will be participating in field trips or working in our laboratories are also required to complete the relevant field work and laboratory safety inductions.
