About this exciting Opportunity

Our Technical Officer – Water Quality is a key member of the AIMS SeaSim Precinct and is responsible for conducting a specified water quality program of sampling seawater for water quality analysis, which will include sampling, analysis, database maintenance and reporting of results to the wider SeaSim team.

Working in our National Sea Simulator, which is known as the world’s most advanced experimental research aquarium facility for tropical marine organisms, your role will act as the laboratory safety officer for the Sea Sim Precinct and oversee management of the laboratory, including instrument calibration and checks.

About you

You will be proficient and experienced at working in a laboratory environment, and able to apply a high level of diligence, attention to detail and reliability in processing laboratory samples. This experience will be supported by your tertiary qualifications in Marine/Environmental Science or Chemistry/Applied Chemistry, as well as experience undertaking water quality sampling techniques and analysis, and accurate records maintenance of results.

You will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and the ability to problem solve when needed and have well- developed written and verbal communication skills, and a collaborative style of working. Your experience in the operation, maintenance and calibration of water quality analysis instrumentation will be critical to your success in this role. Experience with husbandry of marine aquarium or aquaculture species and willingness to participate in field trips as needed would be highly desirable.
