About this Opportunity
The Information Communication and Technology (ICT) Services team provides computing and telephony resources, systems and infrastructure to enable our science experts to build Australia’s national marine science capability so that together we can meet the challenges facing our marine estate. Our capability and capacity for ongoing internal and external stakeholder connectivity over our geographical footprint is fundamental to our ability to securely communicate including the sharing of scientific data and information.
As the Systems Administrator you will provide ICT support to more than 300 active users across our geographical footprint. Each day you will undertake ICT operational tasks including systems monitoring, backups and patching, workstation provisioning and asset disposal, and will monitor and maintain endpoint anti-virus, firewall and application whitelisting solutions. You will be responsible for providing systems support to clients who use workstations and servers, Microsoft Office applications, mobile and desk telephones, and voicemail, and AIMS’ video conferencing facilities.

Underpinning your suitability for this position will be your tertiary qualification/s in computing or related field, or equivalent experience and proven success in dealing with clients in an ICT support role. You will also be able to demonstrate your:
- experience in the support and diagnosis of x86 based workstation problems, and expertise in supporting Windows based PC’s, particularly Windows 10 and the Microsoft Office Suite of products;
- skills and knowledge managing centralized systems backups and understanding of backup and archive strategies and technologies; and
- expertise managing and supporting H.323 and SIP based room video conference systems, and various desktop-based video conferencing applications (e.g., Zoom, Skype, Teams etc).
Non-Australian Citizens must hold an appropriate Visa with working entitlements that allows paid employment with AIMS for the term of the appointment, depending on the relevant Department of Home Affairs policies.
