About this Opportunity

The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority and the Queensland Department of Environment and Science, through the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, operate the Joint Field Management Program (JFMP) for the marine and island national parks, encompassing the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and the Great Barrier Reef Coast Marine Park. AIMS and the JFMP are working together to develop and deploy a range of new technical solutions to deliver new capacity in marine monitoring. This underpins work to document the status of the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area, to implement conservation strategies, and to ensure the long-term sustainability of the reef.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing software components to implement end to end data workflows from data capture through to reporting and analysis where major parts of the workflows will include the use of and interaction with cloud-based services. The components will include user interaction systems for system control and data entry via tablet-based Apps (with a focus on non-technical users) along with metadata collection and generation.

Additionally, you will work with our clients in integrating the AIMS Research Data Platform (RDP), a cloud-based (AWS) data workflow system, into their internal systems to deliver end to end workflows that utilise the AIMS services. This will involve the development of software components, as services or stand-alone systems, that link cloud-based services to the client’s internal systems and may include development of API components to support this. Included in this component is the development of reporting systems that bring disparate sources of data into a single reporting and display framework.
