The Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) is Australia’s tropical marine research agency.
Our research into some of Australia’s iconic marine ecosystems guides their management and that of similar systems around the world. We do marine science that has practical benefit to the real world, providing high quality, large-scale and long-term research that is used by governments, industry and the wider community to make informed decisions about the Great Barrier Reef, North-West Shelf and Arafura and Timor Seas.
AIMS researchers at our locations in Townsville, Darwin and Perth have access to the best tools and equipment like the National Sea Simulator, cutting edge laboratories and our fleet of research vessels.
About this Opportunity
In the position of Data Systems Operations Officer, you will provide technical operational support for AIMS’ research data systems to streamline the identification, recording, diagnosis, and where possible, troubleshooting and resolution of system issues to improve overall level of service and quality of data systems. You will liaise with internal and external users to understand and document system issues and will work closely with software engineers to implement solutions.
The successful candidate will be rewarded with:
- AOF Level 4 Salary ($85,970 - $97,833 per annum)
- 15.4% superannuation
- Generous leave provisions
- Full Time Temporary position available via our labour hire arrangement to commence ASAP up to 30 June 2022
- Located in Townsville, Queensland
Underpinning your suitability for this position will be your Tertiary qualification/s in Information Technology, Systems Engineering or similar, or equivalent experience, alongside your well-developed interpersonal communication skills. You will also be able to demonstrate your:
- Programming skills in Java or Python, or web technologies, and ability to diagnose web UI, browser issues, and to investigate system/application logs;
- Highly developed technical problem-solving skills and experience in a client facing-role such as technological support; and
- Ability to provide high-level professional services within a science research environment to a variety of users.
Non-Australian Citizens must hold an appropriate Visa with working entitlements that allows paid employment with AIMS and associated labour hire agency for the term of the appointment, depending on the relevant Department of Home Affairs current policies.
