About Us

The Australian Institute of Marine Science (AIMS) is Australia’s tropical marine research agency.

Our research into some of Australia’s iconic marine ecosystems guides their management, protection and sustainable use. Our marine science delivers practical benefit to the real-world, providing high quality, large-scale and long-term research that is used by governments, industry and the wider community to make informed decisions about the Great Barrier Reef, the North-West Shelf and the Arafura and Timor Seas.

AIMS researchers at our locations in Townsville, Darwin and Perth have access to some of world’s best marine research infrastructure such as the National Sea Simulator, cutting edge laboratories and our fleet of research vessels.

The Project Management Office

Development of a contemporary project management system that will ensure best practice project planning, management and reporting of our significant research endeavours is nearly complete. This new system will be implemented within months and to support its release, a core team of project management professionals is being engaged.

We require two new Project Management Coordinators who will work under the direction of a Project Management Office Manager and assist AIMS staff in adopting the new project management system and supporting staff through all stages of the project lifecycle from concept to close. The Project Management Coordinators will be the primary points of contact for AIMS staff for service and advice concerning the management of AIMS diverse portfolio of research projects and will also analyse and evaluate project health and outcomes.

The successful candidates will be experienced in delivering and evaluating projects using electronic project planning systems and demonstrate highly advanced communication and interpersonal skills to engage with and support stakeholders the project phases.
