International laboratories
are invited to participate in development of this framework map.
High quality archival DNA has been prepared from individuals from
the mapping family (grandparents, parents and 42 offspring).
Sufficient DNA from the reference mapping family will be provided
to interested laboratories for genotyping using PCR based methods.
It is intended that collaborating investigators will return
genotypic data that is generated on the family to the central
CSIRO/AIMS database. In return CSIRO/AIMS will carry out the
linkage analysis and send map data comprising linkage information
for the markers genotyped by the collaborating investigator.
There is no phenotypic
information associated with the mapping family, and the framework
map will be in the public domain and free from restrictions on its
use. The only requirement is that the source of the information be
acknowledged in future use.
The results of this work
will continue to be published in the scientific literature as it
progresses. All contributors of genotypic data to the map will
share authorship on publications that incorporate those data. In
addition, collaborators will be joint authors on presentations at
conferences and other venues where their genotyping data is
included in the presentation.
