Dangerous marine animals
of Northern Australia

Introduction

The resource series on dangerous marine animals of Northern Australia is intended to describe and provide information about marine animals that pose a threat to humans.

The series is intended as an introduction to the various dangerous marine animals of Northern Australia and a list of references is provided for further reading.

Most marine creatures are harmless to humans and those that are a threat are not so because we are part of their food chain. It is just because some creatures by necessity employ some very toxic means of disabling their prey and unfortunately some of these toxins can be fatal to humans.
