A workshop was held at CSIRO Land and Water, Canberra on 13-14 February 97. The objectives of the Workshop were to :

  • Review on-going work in the Herbert region;

  • Develop a research framework to address the integration of both terrestrial and marine based R&D bring conducted in the Herbert region;

  • Identify gaps in the existing R&D effort;

  • Identify past successes/failures in that effort; and

  • Agree on future action for the development of the HERBERTS research group

One of the key actions arising from the workshop was the development of an an inventory describing the current and future research interests of scientists from a range of research agencies who are working in the Herbert River catchment and the adjacent marine environment. What follows below is that inventory. Whilst not exhaustive, it provides a useful summary of current activities and proposed R&D in the Herbert region.
