Cyclone survival

Tracking a Cyclone

To use the tracking record and map you will need to print the pages on A4 paper. To return to this page use the back button on your browser.

Plotting Instructions: Listen carefully to each Cyclone Advice from the Bureau of Meteorology's Tropical Cyclone Warning Centre and jot down the details on the tracking record sheet. Next, locate the cyclone using the numbered Latitude (horizontal) lines and Longitude (vertical) lines on the tracking map.

Remember, the area affected by destructive winds may extend far from the centre. The estimated extent of destructive winds is included in Cyclone Advices.
