Coral sea region billfish atlas

Seasonal Catch-Rates

BROADBILL SWORDFISH

The seasonal overview clearly suggests that catch-rates of broadbill are highest in the southern part of the region and decrease towards the equator. catch-rates are highest in New Caledonia from August to October and in Vanuatu and the Solomons from October to December. There is also some evidence of a second peak in February in Vanuatu and Papua New Guinea.
