Coral sea region billfish atlas

Purpose of the atlas

The aim of this atlas is to provide the best possible scientific background for those wishing to develop gamefishing in the Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu region (from the equator to 20°S and from 140°E to 170°E). It allows direct comparisons of catch rates between different areas in the region by season, based on data from the Japanese longline fishery, and provides the kind of background environmental data that might interest entrepreneurial gameboat skippers to help them target their efforts.

We provide some interpretation of the data, but aim to provide enough information for experienced anglers to reach their own conclusions.
