About Us...
Information Services provides services primarily to AIMS Staff (via
the AIMS Intranet pages)
but also to
the Public
and
other Libraries.
The Library supports the scientific programs within the Institute
and contains information resources that cover marine sciences,
including biology, ecology, geology, chemistry, physical oceanography
and biotechnology. Our Library holds approximately 12,000 books, 3,500
journal titles (print and online), maps, charts, aerial photographs,
CD-ROM's, audio-visual materials and remote access online databases.
The
online library catalogue
provides the search tool to find books, journals, e-books, e-journals
and other library resources here at AIMS, JCU, CSIRO and GBRMPA.
The
Publications Database
provides a search tool to identify scientific research published by
staff from the Institute.
Information Services is associated with IAMSLIC (International
Association of Aquatic and Marine Science Libraries), FishNet and has
reciprocal arrangements with a variety of other similar organisations.
If your Library is interested in participating in special lending
arrangements, please
contact us.
Registry is responsible for
registry files
and correspondence, facsimiles, incoming and outgoing mail, the
safekeeping of seals and contracts. Registry is the official archive
office of the Institute and as such adheres to the
Archives Act 1983.
