Calling for expressions of interest in attending..
11th ANZ Climate Forum Sunday July 13 to Wednesday July 16, 1997
The theme of the meeting is Following the successful meeting in Auckland in February 1996, the Magnetic Island venue for the 1997 meeting was chosen by popular acclaim The dates of the meeting were established so as to follow the 1997 Joint IAMAS/IAPSO Meeting in Melbourne, and to account for local accommodation availability. Participants could expect to arrive in Townsville on Sunday morning, and depart on Wednesday afternoon. (Note that due to national league sporting commitments, accommodation in Townsville will be limited on the night of Saturday 12 July.) The meeting is intended to consist of an informal (family-oriented) program arranged around a core of formal presentations. Please indicate by email (use the word "CLIMANZ" somewhere in your email header) to Cathy at espaus@ultra.net.au whether you are interested in coming to the meeting, and how many guests/family you would bring. Please don't send money or make bookings at this stage. We are merely seeking expressions of interest. We'd be grateful if you'd circulate this to those of your colleagues who may also be interested. The deadline for response to this call is May 9, 1997. Venue The Magnetic Island Tropical Resort at Nelly Bay, where the meeting will be held, is an award-winning establishment with a relaxed atmosphere in a magnificent tropical setting, with chalet-style accommodation. Magnetic Island is a 15 minute fastcat ferry ride from Townsville, N. Qld. Nelly Bay is 10 minutes by bus from the Picnic Bay Jetty.
Numbers Depending on sharing arrangements, the meeting venue could comfortably cater for 50 live-in participants, with another nearby resort catering for about 20 more if needed.
