Indonesian visitors at AIMS

June 26, 2003

AIMS today received a high-level visit from representatives of the Indonesian Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries.

The delegation of five are in Australia on a fact-finding tour.

Leading AIMS scientist Dr Clive Wilkinson, who runs the secretariat of the Global Coral Reef Monitoring Network, hosted their visit to AIMS.

"The delegation is here to learn from our experiences and to gather information that will help them develop Indonesian ocean policy," said Dr Wilkinson.

"This visit also gives AIMS Research Group Leaders an opportunity to learn more about the Indonesian experience."

Next week the group will do a sustainable fisheries' management course at the Townsville-based International Marine Project Activity Centre (IMPAC).
