AIMS-IBM-KEPCO project

ESTUARINE COASTAL AND SHELF SCIENCE

The scientific journal Estuarine, Coastal and Shelf Science (published by Academic Press) will have in the year 2000 a special issue on visualisation in marine science.

A CD with many spectacular examples of 3D visualisation of complex data sets will be included with this issue.

Guest-edited by Eric Wolanski (AIMS, Australia), Patrick Gentien (IFREMER, France), Malcolm Spaulding (U. Rhodes Island, USA) Simon Spagnol (AIMS, Australia) and Dave Prandle (Proudman Oceanographic Laboratory, UK).

The CD was prepared by Katie Moore (AIMS, Australia).

Supported by IBM-USA; thanks are due to Dr Wayne Balta.

There are 18 contributions, all peer-reviewed from around the world including Japan, Russia, UK, France, USA, Canada and Australia.

-Introduction

While effective visualisation often requires movies and computer animations of field and model data, as is shown in the CD, samples of figures are shown below to illustrate the wide range of fields and applications:
