CADS_TOOL

Supporting cage aquaculture decision-making

CADS_TOOL (Cage Aquaculture Decision Support Tool) is designed to help cage aquaculture managers optimise their choice of sites for placement of cages.

In order to get the most out of CADS_TOOL, first view:
CADS_TOOL Technical Guide in English
CADS_TOOL manual in Indonesian.

Launch CADS_TOOL (Requires Java Webstart)

If you need Java or CADS_TOOL doesn't start, install or upgrade Java
from
here

The software will help aquaculture managers to:

  • classify a site
  • select the best site from several alternatives
  • calculate the sustainable holding density of a chosen site
  • perform a basic economic appraisal of a site

The system was developed as part of the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) project FIS/2003/027 'Planning tools for environmentally sustainable tropical finfish cage culture in Indonesia and northern Australia', which is a collaboration between the Australian Institute of Marine Science (Dr David McKinnon) and the Research Institute for Coastal Aquaculture, Maros, South Sulawesi, Indonesia (Dr Rachmansyah).

The program is coded in Javaź and designed to run on any computer platform. Javaź is pre-installed on most modern personal computers, but if your computer does not have this software it can be downloaded free of charge from here.

CADS_TOOL was developed by Dr Halmar Halide, formerly with AIMS and now at the following address:
