Western Australian Marine Science Institution

The Western Australian Marine Science Institution (WAMSI) is a $21 million, five-year marine science joint venture to underpin the conservation and sustainable management of Western Australia’s marine environment and resources. It was launched in May 2007.

As part of WAMSI, AIMS is working with Australian Government organisations CSIRO and the Bureau of Meteorology, the Western Australian State Government Departments of Environment and Conservation, Fisheries, and Industry and Resources, the WA Museum, the Western Australian universities and Western Australian Global Ocean Observing Systems Inc.

AIMS' primary role is providing expertise in coral reef systems and oceanography and the provision of ship-time on our vessels.
